INFORMATION ON KGSP/GKSP FOR UNDERGRADUATE :EMBASSY TRACK
The 2018 KGSP/GKSP application and selection process for
graduate studies has just been completed with over 600 candidates selected from
all over the world to pursue post graduate degrees. So what's next? 2019
KGSP/GKSP application for undergraduate degrees. let's look at what applying
for an undergraduate degree might look like.
Aim
The Korean Government Scholarship Program for undergraduate degrees is
designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at
higher educational institutions in Korea for Bachelor-level degrees, which in
turn will contribute to promoting the international exchange in education and
to deepening the mutual friendship among countries
Difficulty
Is the scholarship difficult to get? NO and YES. NO, if
you have met all the requirements and YES, if you haven’t. To be sincere, the
KGSP/GKSP for undergraduate is more competitive than the graduate. Few slots
per country, smart students with clean results etc. Don’t get scared though,
you can do it.
Methods of Applying
The Embassy track: applying through the embassy means your
application documents and other related documents must be submitted to the
Korean embassy in your home country. Note that you CANNOT submit your
application to a Korean embassy in another country aside your home country.
Advantages
-
You can choose up to three
universities of your choice
-
All majors allowed under the KGSP can
apply
-
Cost of sending documents is less
(for applicants residing in their home countries
-
Higher number of slots
-
The embassy might help you with the
process (document authentication etc.)
-
Get to meet previous awardees (if the
embassy invites them)
Rather than saying disadvantages, I would say;
-
Competition is obviously high in most
countries
-
3 photocopies and 1 original of each
document must be submitted making it complicated. (it’s worth the time though).
So, think well
and decide if you want to go through the embassy track. Do well to check out
the next article on the University track.
Please, I would like to know if I can apply for KGSP via university track if my major is mass communication
