INFORMATION ON KGSP/GKSP FOR UNDERGRADUATE: UNIVERSITY TRACK

University track: Applying through the university track means that you have to send your application documents to directly to the University you are applying to. The University then selects suitable candidates and forwards the result to the National Institute for International Education (NIIED). The NIIED makes the final decision. Unlike the Embassy track where the embassy makes the first selection and forwards the result to NIIED.

Advantages
-      Online Interview. Most universities conduct interviews via phone, a few via video calls and in rare cases no interviews at all.
-      Only 1 set of original documents is submitted making it less complicated
-      Less competition at University level

On the other side, there are some difficulties;
-      You allowed to apply to only one University
-      You can apply to only regional Universities (universities outside of Seoul)
-      Only Science and Engineering majors are allowed
-      Cost of sending documents from home country to South Korea may be high.

Just like every other scholarship i searched online for the kgsp scholarship at study in Korea website . the application for the scholarship usually opens 1st of September each year and i applied for the 2017 kgsp. i used the university track as i applied to kyungsung university in Busan (one of the leading universities in Busan). kyungsung accepts documents via email so i sent my documents to the person in charge of the kgsp at kyungsung university. my interview was scheduled for October 10th so i patiently waited for that. the day finally came and i received an email from the office. attached to the email was a PDF file which i downloaded and read about my rejection  kyungsung       and to no avail my dreams almost came crashing down. before the kgsp i spent hours all day long getting to know Korea as a country and also how kgsp scholars lived their lives in Korea.  I did not allow myself to get bothered by the rejection letter kyungsung university sent to me so i re-applied again fo...
